A Greener Future with Broan Nutone Trash Compactors

Owning a trash compactor in your kitchen is a fabulous luxury, and it is a kitchen addition that is good for the environment and the future of our planet. Broan is a big name on the scene of trash compactors, and they claim their units can reduce six thirteen gallon bags of garbage into one ten gallon bag of compact trash. This company has been perfecting their trash compactors for forty years.

Broan promises 80% less garbage mass, and when you think about  it, less garbage each week means less trips the garbage men make to the dump, less gasoline usage, less traffic, and potentially a cleaner environment. This black trash compactor looks pretty fine with its shiny black finish and fingerprint proof coating. The door is magnetic and can be mounted to open right or left for the owner’s convenience, but it is secure and comes with a safety lock to keep children out.

The flat stainless steel compactor is also of the Elite series by Broan. With a single stage motor they compress trash with 3000 lbs of pressure and allow you to put off taking out the garbage for days or even weeks. The odor will certainly be no trouble, because all of these compactors have odor control built in, but it doesn’t work how you would expect.

Most compactors use a charcoal filter that only lasts a little while, but in the Broan odor control disc there is a chlorine dioxide compound filter that reacts with the bad odors to neutralize them. Each disc lasts six months. The magnetic seal around the door significantly reduces bad smells as well.

Here is a Broan trash compactor in the white color if that happens to match your kitchen better. This is a superb kitchen tech, but it’s not all sunshine and butterflies. You must remember not to use it to dispose of paint, gas, or aerosol cans. That would be messy and extremely dangerous. You also have to order special plastic compactor bags for the unit, or you’ll have another awful mess. But on the bright side, these things are pretty easy to clean.

You take the trash bin out with a screwdriver, and then press a quick release button to remove the compactor plate that has been packing the garbage in. You can either wash it in the sink or just pop it in the dishwasher.

Check out the beautiful tile inlay on the door of this trash compactor. It’s so elegant and Mediterranean you almost forget there’s trash inside. The Broan units compact garbage in about forty-five seconds, but the cycle is quieted by the insulation of the door.

As it turns out, there are many ways to hide the trash compactor. This wood overlay door pan trash compactor conceals itself discretely as just another cabinet.

The compactor with the stainless steel arched door is also a high tech Elite XE unit. These kitchen techs are designed with every convenience in mind. There is a bag storage place, a light inside that turns red when it’s time to change the filter, and a second door on the garbage bin itself so you don’t have to lift it over the edge. These are our own Rosie Robot Maids from the Jetsons, making our futures clean, easy and green.
